May I go to the toilet?

May I go to the toilet? This question always pops up in class, and creates a really awkward but funny atmosphere. "May I go to the toilet?", such a simple phrase, but people who are currently in the flood areas aren't able to go to the toilet. Their toilet's are either flooded, or the toilet was unable to flush. So, a certain company in Thailand designed a floating toilet. The really special part of this toilet is that, there are micro organisms who would treat those waste. I find this invention really convenient and helpful, since it provides the victims of the flood a proper place to treat their waste. Well, this is a really creative way to help the flood, because have micro organisms to treat your waste was a really clever and hygienic. Since there are many concerns for the flood victims to have to live with their waste and the dirty water. This innovation fully solves this problem, and helps improve the flood's victims' environment.  Maybe this floating toilet is not the most creative one, but I am sure that it is one of the most helpful innovations.

  1. Kelly, This is Ms. Katharine responding to your entry. Ms. Torie asked me to read your class's entries on the floods.

First off, your title immediately caught my attention! Not only is the voice humorous and playful, it speaks directly to your audience. That said, you also skillfully make the transition between treating the subject playfully to underlining the severity of the toilet situation amidst the floods.

You successfully describe why the toilets were needed and what sets them apart in innovation.

Another interesting aspect of your entry is your last sentence. You chose to describe an especially important invention, but suggest that it's not the most creative one.

I hope that your family is safe...and have access to a toilet!

  2. Sup Kelly,

Your title is indeed interesting and pulls attention, just like what Ms. Katherine said. I like how you lead from bathroom questions in class into the flood that is occurring in Thailand. I think it's worth to put Cotto instead of 'a certain company in Thailand' and credit them, because they invented it. You also did a good job describing the toilet.

I also picked the flooding toilet for my blog because, like you said, it's clever, hygienic, and provides a proper place for flood victims to treat their waste. I also agree with your last sentence, because treating the human waste is very important, because we need to eat, and dump after.

This blog is clear and interesting, good job!

  3. Your title is really interesting and creative and captures the reader's attention. I could agree that the floating toilet is really helpful when there are no other ways to use the toilet. Lots of victims from the flood says that they have to put their waste in a plastic bag and put it on the roof or somewhere else. To think about it, it is indeed really hard and inconvenient to go to the toilet. But with this invention, it would be easier for the victims to use the toilet. I really love your writing and it is perfect except for some little issues.
